Bio-Identical Hormones

Bio-Identical Hormone Replacement Therapy (also known as Bio-HRT) is a "natural" substitute to the synthetic hormones available for the treatment of many medical problems. Bio-Identical means the chemical structure of these hormones is identical to the hormones they are replacing in the human body, as opposed to synthetic hormones that are "similar" to those hormones. Synthetic hormones have many beneficial effects but because they differ on some of their structure from the human hormones they bring with them several side effects. Bio-HRT is used for peri-menopause, menopause, andropause (male menopause), chronic fatigue syndrome, thyroid disorders, mood disorders, age-related decrease in hormone production ("hormonal theory of aging"), prevous steroid use associated with current low testosterone, obesity.
